What is “sowing to the Spirit”, what is the Spirit of Man and how does one sow to it?
Jon Watkins Exposing Satanism and Witchcraft July 26, 2015
This graphic and explanation comes from Daniel Grove
Job 32:8 “But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.”
Proverbs 20:27 “The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.”
Ecclesiastes 12:7 “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.”
Romans 8:16 “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:”
Spirit – Your spirit is the spiritual or supernatural side of you, it is not material, it is not visible, it’s not of this world, but it’s from God. In Genesis we see God breathed His spirit in to Adam which made him a living soul, no other living creature received this treatment of God giving them a spirit or His spirit (Gen 2:7). Because you have this you are able to interact with the spiritual world. It is what allows you to hear from God, to have faith for miracles, to see angels and smell demons etc. For the born again Christian the spirit is filled with the Holy Spirit and He works through our spirit to effect our natural world.
Soul – An easy way to conceptualize what happens in your soul is whatever happens in your brain. It’s also invisible like your spirit and contains your emotion, your will, your desires, sensory perception, conscience, and your reasoning or logic. Out of all our three parts I believe our soul was effected the greatest by sin. Now, because of sin, it is pointed inward, always consumed with the self unless it is willingly disciplined and kept in check. The soul decides what you want to do and sends the signal to your physical body in order to act out your decisions.
Body – Our body is the physical shell in which we reside on Earth, when we die our true self, our spirit, leaves the body behind and passes on to judgment (HEB 9:27). Our body is completely material, composed of atoms, it works via electric signals and chemical reactions that connect with our soul (or brain). Your body is not who you are, it is merely a shell that allows your spirit to interact with the physical realm.”
When you sow to the Spirit you do it the same way you sow to the flesh. And vise-versa, when you sow to the flesh you sow to the Spirit at the same time. How you may ask? The Spirit resides in the body with the Soul of man which God has made, from the dust of the earth, and he breathed life into it.
Genesis 2:7 “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
When you sow to the flesh it grieves the Holy Spirit that God placed within you when you became Born Again. How do you sow to the flesh? By making a conscious decision to submit to your fleshly desires. The actions that follow that choice, affect not only your flesh (which reaps the temporary pleasure) but your spirit as well (these consequences are less obvious, but much more substantial). When we sin, the repercussions usually do not appear immediately, but they are already working.
When you submit to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to work in and through you this is the outcome:
Ephesians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
This is how you “sow to the spirit”, through the conscious submission of your will, to the will of God.
There are numerous things, that are part of our everyday life, which can affect our Spirit in a negative way. So much of the world around us get absorbed into our spirit on an unconscious level. We must be careful what we watch on TV, the music we listen to, the conversations we have, and the activities in which we participate or partake. Our mind, soul and spirit, work like a computer. Garbage in/Garbage out. You are the gatekeeper and responsible for the things that you allow. If you take in garbage, you will expel garbage. And, of course, you are responsible for what comes out. Gossiping and listening to gossip, for example, is a sure way to sow to the flesh and grieve the Spirit.
Ephesians 4:29 “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.” and James 1:26 “If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.”
There are a myriad of scriptures on this subject which are too many to list here, so I offer you this online list.
You are probably already aware that what you choose to ingest can cause you great physical harm. Were you aware that it can also be destructive to your Spirit? You may think this would not be true, but what you eat and drink, even the quantities you consume, are either sowing to the flesh or the Spirit.
1st Corinthians 6:19 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”
If you are like most of us, you may over eat or desire that 2nd piece of pie, cake or candy! It may seem a little thing and insignificant, but our bodies are the “temple of the Holy Ghost (Spirit)” and we should do everything possible to nurture what God has given us. Doing our best to resist temptation sows to the Spirit and denies the flesh. Remember this though, if you’re trying to do it through will power, you will fail. Jesus defeated all bondage at the Cross and relying on Him to fight the battle is sowing to the Spirit. If we confess our faults to him and and ask him to cleanse us, he will deliver us from that which has us bound. Some people work to overcome their addictions/sins by sheer willpower. They may appear to be successful for a time. However, at some point they “fall off the wagon” and again “wallow in the mire” from whence they came.
2nd Peter 2:22 “But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.”
Relying on Jesus and Him only is sowing to the Spirit.
Every single day we make choices. That is what life is all about. This life we are living is a proving ground.
Deuteronomy 30:15-20 “See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; 16 In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. 17 But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; 18 I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it. 19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: 20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”.
God offers us his love, protection, blessing, provision, wisdom, direction and so much more. In return, he is looking to see who will choose him. Who will honor him and keep his commandments? Who will believe his Word and trust him?
Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
In this world, we must show God that we know, because He promised, that if we live according to his Word, though we may suffer much in this life, we will receive a reward.
HE IS COMING SOON! And for those whom he finds worthy he is bringing reward.
Revelation 22:12-16 “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. 16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.”
So, he has made it very clear what you must do, to be worthy.
Walking by faith is not easy. The word tells us that we will be faced with many trials and tribulations, but we will not suffer through them alone. He promises to bring us through them all. If we focus on walking in the truth of the Word of God we will receive a reward, if we do not faint. Listen to the testimony of the Apostles:
Acts 20:23-25 “Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. 25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.”
How are you living your life? DO the choices you are making reflect a faith in GOD’s Word? Can you say, along with Timothy,
2nd Timothy 4:7 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:”?
Let these words encourage you:
Hebrews 12:1-3 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds”.
Keep your heart true, your mind stayed on Christ, your sword (which is the Word of God) ready, your feet on the right path, your lamps lit, and live like you are in the last moments of time. In the end, do you want him to “spew you out of his mouth”?Revelation 3:16
Matthew 25:23 “His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” ?

If you go to the store to buy Meat, don't run to the Milk section or the Junk Food aisle looking for it!!
The Meat Section is the True Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Milk Section is likened to those who will not preach on sin and Hell, just a feel good message, the Social gospel.
The Junk Food Isle is the outright false doctrine AKA the prosperity gospel, name it and claim it, the Hebraic Roots movement and other false teachings!!
Feasting on just Milk and Junk will eventually cause you great harm, you can count on it!!
